Beachcombing Treasures

With a careful eye combing the rocky shores, you can find fossils.

Just curious

Close up of bone cells and crystallization from whale fossil found at Jalama Beach

I used the Zoomy hand held digital microscope to record the image. Lots of fun!

New Fossil Finds in Ohio and Indiana!

Yes, here are my recent fossil finds!  They happened to be a stepping stone in someone's garden in Ohio  and the other fossil find is used as building stone in Indiana.  It turns out this is just common sedimentary rock or limestone and is all over the area.  It is a beautiful grayish color.

I guess I was more interested in the Daddy Long Legs spider than photographing the fossils imbedded in the stone!  Where are the fossils in these pictures?  They were there, I swear!  Ohio fossil info: http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Portals/10/pdf/GeoFacts/geof17.pdf
